My initial thoughts on this story was that it wasnt really that sad to me. I mean yeah its a sad story but i didnt have any feelings toward the story. The story implies that somehow the baby, has died and the parents are selling the shoes because their baby died. This story is effective because it has emotion in it. It shows that the author can make people have some emotion toward such a story despite of how short it is. What makes this story powerful is that you actually have to think about what the story is about. Its also powerful because it expresses pure emotion in just a few words
